Our Springer Spaniel, Annie, turned 14 in April, 2010. To look at her one might think she is only 5 or 6 years old. This picture was taken about a week before she died in early August. Annie was a part of our famly since she was about 7 weeks old. She was a fun and playful dog. She was energetic up until the last 6 months of her life. She loved people immensely. She is missed.
The video is from just two video clips. They show Annie in normal family life.

Annie was born in April, 1996. Soon after searching and playing with a fun program called Microsoft Dogs, we decided to get an Springer Spaniel. Then Kathleen learned that a co-worker had a Springer Spaniel who was pregnant. What a coincidence! We were excited to see the pups while they were just a few days old. We chose this one, but had to wait several weeks before we could we bring her home. When it was time to take her home, we discovered that Annie had a mind of her own. She did not like being separated from her mother at all. She howled the whole half-hour trip home while sitting in Kathleen’s lap. We wondered what we’d got ourselves into! But once we were home, Annie surveyed her new surroundings and quickly made it her home, too.
It didn’t take long for Annie to grow up. And she was always ready to go for walks and whatever activity we had in mind.
Then a few years later there was a new addition to the family. Sarah was born in October, 1998. As soon as we brought Sarah home from the hospital, Annie came over to give her a welcome lick.
Or it could be that Sarah still had some milk on her lips and Annie went for the milk. In either case, Annie quickly found a new friend in Sarah.
Our neighbors had a wonderful Springer Spaniel named Lester. We would take care of Lester at times, and his owners would reciprocate and take care of Annie. If you look closely, at this picture you will see there is more going on in this photo than you first think. Notice the books.
We often went the the Verona dog park. The following image was taken there and has become a family favorite.
It wasn’t easy to get everyone to cooperate, but we did get this shot of all four of us, which is nice.
As has been said, Annie loved people. But she had a special affinty for her friend, Dave. When Dave came over, Annie would show extreme happiness. Maybe part of it was Dave would let her sit in his lap.
Annie was a good dog for us. We enjoyed her and she had many friends in the neighborhood.
