I love photography and Madison is a beautiful city to do it in. The Wisconsin Capital, Monona Terrace, Olbrich Botanical Gardens, Allen Centennial Gardens, Henry Vilas Park and the Arboretum are just some of the many beautiful places one can go for gorgeous outdoor pictures.

My style of photography is portrait journalism. You have likely heard of photojournalism, which is a style of remaining unobtrusive and catching those wonderful candid moments. These can be great photographs of the bride, groom and wedding party being the most natural. It is a style some photographers refer to as the “fly on the wall” view. Classic portraiture is directing and posing people into classic forms that result in beautiful photographic portraits.

Portrait journalism is a hybrid of the two styles. I love both styles! I love to catch people with the joyful smile or a falling tear in a candid moment. I also love to use gorgeous backgrounds to place people into and then help the bride and groom fit into the background in a “that’s cool” pose.

Doorway1 About

Sometimes it is very simple like asking the bride and groom to walk up the street, turn around and walk back.

Other times it includes where to look, where to position the flowers, where to place a hand or cross a leg.

I use the portrait journalism style, it is a hybride of the classic and contemporary styles. It is what helps me to catch the beautiful pictures you see on this site.

I hope that you check out the video interviews and thouroughly enjoy my site.
