Stevens Street park and in studio photography

This first photo is from a set of images taken at Stevens Street park in Madison, Wisconsin.   It is just a few blocks from the studio.  This shoot took place on July 19, 2010.

She came prepared with make up on and changes of clothes.  The studio was recently renovated and has a nice changing room.

The following is an image with white on white.  It allows the skin, face, and hair to stand out.  It is a great glamor look.

Cassie & Cody

Cassie & Cody were married at Saint Dennis Catholic Church in Madison, Wisconsin on July 10, 2010.

During the ceremony as Cassie’s dad passed her over to Cody, he whispered to Cody as they were hugging, “take good care of her”.  Those words will forever be with them.

The following are some images from Cassie and Cody’s wedding album.

This is a photo of the bride with her bridesmaids which brings the bride closer as the focal point.  It was taken in the preparation room, which wasn’t initially the greatest setting.  It served as a nice background after a number of tables and chairs were removed.

Cassie had a beautiful gown, as can be seen below.   The rings were placed on a Bible with the famous love chapter, I Corinthians 13, in the background.

Saint Dennis Church in Madison

A week before the wedding I dropped by Saint Dennis church, where the ceremony and outdoor pictures were taken.  It is a very large, very attractive sanctuary.   There is a great deal of natural light flooding into the front of the church.  That can be tricky photographically, because the outdoor light is different than the indoor light.  This creates a conflict between the people in the front being a warmer color temperature and the background being a cooler color temperature.

This side view shows the interior lights having a yellow cast while the light coming in from the front looks different.

The stained glass windows are beautiful and provide a classic feel for this newer sanctuary.

This garden is one nice place for outdoor portraits.

The playground can be a fun place to take pictures of the whole wedding party.

Devil’s Lake Wisconsin

I have started a new category called Daily Photos.  This will be a good place to come to see my latest work.  I thought Devil’s Lake would make a good start.

Our family went to Devil’s Lake as part of our 4th of July break.   It was a pretty day with sunny skys.

I took a stroll along the lake to find some interesting things to shoot.  This area of the lake is set aside for dogs to swim in; even so, the water was crystal clear.

Again you can see that the water is clear; this, too, was in the dog section of the lake.  Her little dog was running around nearby.

Devils Lake 3 Devils Lake Wisconsin

Devil’s Lake was formed from a receeding glacier.  It left many giant boulders all around the lake.  Features that makes this area so pretty are the rock walls, cliffs, and boulder fields.  I approached one of the bolder fields and found these flowers.

I don’t normally get real excited about flower pictures, because flowers just sit there.   But this gorgeous Devil’s Lake background makes this flower picture worth much more  to look at.

This picture below is probably my favorite for the day.   I like how the lillies are so open.  The camera view sees the whole flower.

Devils Lake 8 Devils Lake Wisconsin

These flowers would not mean anything to me, but I like the way the camera caught the walkers’ legs, skewed and out of focus.

Evidently there are a lot of bass in Devil’s Lake.  One couple I spoke to said they catch bass every time they come here.  Maybe it is a fishing tale, but he said one day they caught 80 bass.  I didn’t ask if they threw some back.  I hope they did.  I am not a fisherman, but I would think 80 fish for two people would surpass the limit for a day.

It was a good day for outdoor scenic pictures.
