Rustic Barn

I was asked by the parents of a bride to see if there is a barn that we could use for photos to be taken after the wedding. I was checking things out and discovered this very cool old barn.

I drove up to the property and found the owner inside. He was happy to show me around. We went up to the second floor. I took these shots. The place has a number of holes in the floor and there are some places where the wood has rotted away, but what character and charm!

In the following picture you can see that there is another floor above. It is a loft. It would be perfect for taking pictures of people below on the second floor. This would also be a great place to go for engagement pictures.

First Presbyterian Church in Waunakee, Wisconsin

I visited First Presbyterian Church for a wedding that I will be shooting this weekend.

While there I found a wild turkey roaming around. Not only was I surprised to see the turkey, I was surprised to see how close it would let me approach it. I later learned from the church secretary that she noticed the turkey just before Thanksgiving. Evidently no one tried to take advantage of the situation! I have had wild turkey before. It is very tasty.

Inside, the church is very nice. The organ looks fantastic. Notice that the church is decorated for Christmas. I was told that the church offers a live Nativity scene outside the building.

Carl & Kathy Seeger Family

It was a full house with the Seeger family in the studio. The family includes two really cute adopted girls from India. The girls were adopted separately and come from different families. Our family supports the Gospel for Asia ministry (which primarily works in India), so we have special fondness for the people of India. I hope to visit there some day.

With five children of a variety of ages made it a challenge to get everyone to look and smile at the same time but we got it done. I have a variety of toys that I utilize. One of which is a plastic chicken which makes a great howling noise. It can be perfect for getting kids to turn their heads and give an interesting expression. I didn’t get to pull off the surprise because the boys starting playing with it before I had a chance to use it properly. Maybe next time.

Wedding in Deerfield Wisconsin

In October, 2010 Andrea and Qui had their wedding in Deerfield, Wisconsin. Though the sky was gray, it was a much better day than was forecast. Late that evening and the next day came enormous thunder and lightning storms and several hours of continuous rain. Here are some pictures of the day.

This is a fairly small church, but it still has much beauty with its many candles, altar, and woodwork surrounding the Jesus figure.

I was able to crisply capture the ring ceremony with my 70 to 200 mm lens.

Here is a traditional group shot. It is nice to get these done outside, because the natural light helps everyone look great.

This is one of my favorite set up shots. I get the wedding party cheering in the background while the groom is dipping his bride.

These days many couples choose a party bus for their transportation. This is understandable when there is a large wedding party. But it still is photographically special when the transportation is a limousine. Here I got the limo driver arranged as part of the background. I love how this photograph turned out.

Next we went to the Wisconsin State Capitol.

The wedding cake was really cool. The cake itself is beautiful, but what really catches the eye is the cake topper with the bride holding the keys.

In this final image I had the DJ call all the photographers at the reception. I then had them all take pictures of the bride and groom while I took some fun shots of them. Then I had them turn around and all take pictures of me. It was a team effort and I will do it again.
